waves, rocks, and letterbox duds oh my!
So yesterday turned out to be super lame, we for me anyways. Because of a certain..eh....uh... time of the month, I was gifted my oh so joyous migraine. (please insert sarcasm here, because I am dripping with it, that and distain.) Everyone else I gather had a wonderful time. So jump to today, when I joined the land of the living, still not 100%, but much better than yesterday.
We started the day off by heading out to the beach, mind you, it is spring break in the great northwest. Not like the spring breakers in say, Florida. So when you head to the beach here, you still have coats on. Well my child runs straight for the water, like stink on poo. They say kids can't tell whether it is warm or not, I say they just don't care. Cause there he was in his winter coat and shorts, running for the ocean. After running in the sand a bit his uncles and father head out to rocks only accessible when the wave rolls out. All is going great, big smiles, cheers, whoops and hollars, until he is headed back in and tries to jump before directed to, and BAM! in the water, then guess who else runs instinctivly out there... yep you guessed it. Momma. HN ditches his coat, after I carry him back to shore sobbing and then starts to head back out there again. Guess he was having too much fun :)
Liv too is enjoying the beach, though she is enjoying it from a drier perspective. She likes digging, walking along the beach or spashing in the puddles. Liv also enjoyed shopping in town. She was looking at bracelets with Grammy and loved the ladies ones, but when Grammy showed her the ones that would fit her, she said, "no, I no like." You can't fault good taste! lol.
Hudson, he is my quite thoughtful soul one minute. And the crazy man the next. The first night we were here, he just wanted to sit on my lap and watch the waves with me. Then when I came to put them to bed he asked if I could open the window so he could hear the ocean and watch it as he went to sleep. Love that.
By the time we were all done at the beach it was lunch time and then time to head into town. All coastal towns are basically the same. Candy, toys, and a bunch of overpriced junk. The kids had their allowance and they did find a great buy. Rubberband guns- $10, hours of entertainment. They also made a few purchases in the candy shop. It is so cute to watch them decide what to buy with their hard earned cash.
We went to hunt for one of the 6 letterboxes around here, and after me hauling all three kids through a fridgid river. Almost peeing my pants laughing so hard as Nash shimmied over a log, crossing three bridges, searching through thorny brush... we found no box. It was a dud! bummer. Maybe we can find some on the way home. But all of this adventure in one day!
Phew I needed to write this down somewhere before I forgot.
Oh and Grampa and Grammy taught Olive to say that people are stinky, so we have been getting a good laugh as Liv says, "Daddy stinks!" "Henwy Stinks" Gwampa Stinks!" and so on....
