It's all about the $$$

Well we have officially started allowance up in here! Yes, my two oldest can now earn three bucks a week, and they are all about it! But I didn't just fly off the handle and start giving them 3 bucks, oh no, I did my research about allowance and how I should maybe handle it. And here is what the hubs and I came up with:
We decided that as an adult you are not payed to keep your room clean, or straighten your toys, but you are payed to go to work- to do work for other people basically. So we sat down with the boys and told them that the marble jar would still be in full effect and they can still earn all their marbles but in addition they can now have three extra chores and earn three dollars per week for doing chores that normally Momma does. They got to pick what they did and they are doing a great job at it. HW dusts, helps with laundry, and helps clean the bathroom toilet and counter. HN does the windows, helps with laundry and does the floor and tub in the bathroom (their bathroom) THey still have to be guided through the chores, but really they surprised me by how thourough they were with all of the cleaning. And they were fighting over cleaning the toilet. lol I know that won't last long so I am going to live it up. If they have kept up on their chores throuhout the week they get their paychecks at the end of the week. Now here is where they must learn a little something. $1 goes to savings jar not to be touched, $1 goes to the offering jar- which they take on Sunday to church and the kids ministry I believe sends in to kids in another country-, and the finally $1 is theirs for the spending. They can save it or go spend it. They saved it last week, cause really you can't get anything with just one dollar. But now when we go out and they are asking for something in the toy section I will tell them, sure do you have enough in your allowance? It gets them thinking a little bit. And they LOVE having their OWN money. LOVE IT.
It is a win-win in the Lamberson House!
